Nearly movie quality character animations.

Since this is obviously about the animation itself (though the story was kinda cute, if not completely arbitrary), I think that the animations were very well done in that it was fluid for Aquanna (no pun intended) and Sparker's movements were faster and more abrupt. However a few of the close up shots seemed a bit off, though I loved how you could tell their exact emotions from their eyes.

Leaving the sound and story out of thought, the animation quality deserves a 9, but with those simple backgrounds I'll give it an 8.
Nearly movie quality character animation if you ask me. Some promising animators that's for sure.

VA for the win

lol +1000 for the voice actor XD
Love the humor here... and I've never played dead space much. Though the bit of it I HAVE played was indeed scary as ffffff. Great parody if it makes me laugh and I don't even know much about what it's making fun of!

Polished and perfect

Polished graphics, nice songs, very fun gameplay... I loved playing this game! Maybe the first few jumps aren't very exciting, but when you start going at a speed of 400 and watching everything fly by on your screen, leaving exploding ice debris behind you.... You can't help but have fun!

+ nice mechanics
+ various flying styles and combinations
+ Nice use of graphic effects
+ Humorous cut scenes and text

- could do with more things to destroy

I really wish people didn't give 10 stars to nearly every game they play, because when that rare, fun, game really DOES deserve 10 it doesn't seem as big of a deal.
First 10 / 10 star rating I've given to a game and I don't intend to give these out often.

Interesting idea, but not enough gameplay value

An interesting enough idea, but the game play leaves something to be had.
The customization of a giant rampaging monster is cool and all, but it doesn't mean much if there isn't a great deal to do with it. With the limited amount of energy (even after bringing it up quite high) and simplicity of the game, the player doesn't have much to keep them going other than making a cool hybrid... thing. And although there is an attempt made to rid the game of repetitiveness, it seems to get boring rather quickly.

+fun idea, having a giant crazy hybrid wreck havoc
+comic book style graphics are nice along with the music
+being the badguy is always a fun twist

- somewhat repetitive, even with customizations
- without energy, the player can't really do much. Changing a monster's direction is only so much fun...

Decent. The creators of this obviously were not lazy with this. Could work out with some tweaking and added control/interaction. 5 / 10

a great new oldschool game

I love how Snailad brings some oldshool nes style graphics and sound to the table. For that reason, the graphics and sound are somewhat bland, but mix together well and really remind players of those good-ol days! The game provides a nice long-lasting experience with a balanced learning curve as Snaily world is explored.... and boy does it take some exploring. I still can't find the last piece of that dang shell. Where de heck ARE YOU!?

My personal experience:

+Weeapons become fun to blast everything with
+Upgrades keep the game going throughout
+lots of stuff to do besides just 'beat it'
+Only found one single glitch at the shrine of isis (I flew off into space... it was fun till I died lol.)

-Sometimes a pain in the butt to hug every single wall looking for secret openings
-Gravity shell controls can get a little nuts

All in all, Snailad is fun, long lasting, challenging and cute. 8/10

Made it sound... like DDR + pwnage :D

This an awesome remix of a DDR song? Cause ya coulda fooled me!
Sounds like it was ripped right out. Minus any vocals of course. :D

The beat is pretty flawless and the feel definitely says 'ocean' to me. Well done!
It does, however, sound like it goes all evil on us after 2:00 because it's transitioning into a sort of whole new song for a bit. I like that, but the transition itself is a bit... off. Overall, I love the feeling of the song with the tune and all those beeps and boops (best way I can describe it lol) at 2:42 are great sounding.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for not making the background saws overly loud like so many people tend to do.

9/ 10. I did indeed enjoy the song and I hope it gets more good votes and reviews. It deserves it.
[meh poor, puny votes have so little sway]

Stavier responds:

heh, wow. It's fun when I get bog reviews like this :D Anyways, this is actually an original, but I thought it sounded like a DDR song, & apparently you thought it was a remix so I fooled you :) Glad you liked the beat, cuz I was like "I can't really hear it." But that was cuz I realized I didn't have much vol. up on my earbuds. I did like the transition too. I understand what you mean by "off." I didn't know what else to really do for that transition, but I don't think I needed the pad. But I think I will leave it how it is. Usually for my breaks I transition it to a different mood. Hehe, how about beepy-boops?? :D No problamo, I usually don't tend for the pads, bass, & saws to overpower the main lead & everything else. Haa, thanx you. Last night I was a little dissapointed it didn't get enough anything really, then I wake up with 1 fav., by you :), 4 reviews, 10 votes, 14 dl, & 70 somethin' listens, & I was kinda shocked, but then I saw the score & I was like "oh, well, I'll see how I can get more people to hear it." Thanx for the review!!!

No... MY map!

To be honest... "wrath!" is quite the opposite of the feeling I get from this song.

It's one of those semi-oldschool, sweet songs. I would definitely be able to play around an overworld to this song. Assuming it fits the game of course. XD

Anyway, I'm having trouble finding anything I could say to improve on, so that's when I know it's good. It just seems to lack that 'overworld' feeling... more like a town tune or something to me. 9 / 10. Hope the rest of the game's songs are catchy and nice like this. Good luck.

(that triangle has a reeeeeally high frequency... I don't know if it's just my headphones though, so I'm ignoring it)

Decibel7 responds:

It's not a tense game. I could see where you'd think that. It's a cute pixely game. I didn't name it, so I can't really do anything about it!

Well the over-world consists of a semi-large themed location since it's 2-player multiplayer game. I'll put a link up to one of his project pages. Maybe you can get a better idea of how it will look. :)

Thanks! (And if I get anymore complaints from the triangle I can turn that down. It sounds soft in the mix on mine)

FX heavy...

The use of effects is good and all, but the song lacks sustenance. It seems like it only exists to deliver huge amounts base. Perhaps quieting down those bassy effects (excluding the beat maybe) might make it more enjoyable. As it stands, it's pretty indistinguishable because it sounds like the background of a song that has been made to activate car alarms. Even for dubstep.

I did, however, like the crystaline sounds that started at about 1:50.

Of course, it's impossible to speak for everyone when it comes to music, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

DjTapey responds:

It was all intended, sorry. I'm gonna keep it the way it is. That's just the way I make my music, bass all the way.

Just another random person on Newgrounds trying to add somethin' somethin' to the site. Dunno... Enjoy whatever it is I decide to upload here!
